With the intent of preserving the traditional Dai minority building style, while at the same time keeping in mind modern aesthetics, this family house is designed to be built completely out of bamboo. The Yunnan region of China has abundant bamboo growth and most of Dai people are adept at using bamboo for multiple purposes. Dai style housing utilizes bamboo for walls, flooring, indoor partitions, and even roof tiles.
